Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced that his office received a formal complaint against Permanent Secretary Pita Wise, which he has since forwarded to Parmesh Chand, the Permanent Secretary for Civil Service. In a media briefing, Rabuka revealed that Wise resigned shortly after a meeting with the Chairperson of the Public Service Commission, Luke Rokovada. The Prime Minister did not disclose the details of the complaint. He mentioned that he has suggested several candidates to the PSC for acting appointments to fill the position temporarily. Additionally, Rabuka urged former Permanent Secretaries who previously served in the Office of the Prime Minister to express their interest in the acting role. In related news, Assistant Commissioner of Police – Crime Mesake Waqa confirmed that no report had been filed with the police regarding the matter. Previously, the PSC announced that Wise had stepped down from the civil service for personal reasons.
