Resignation Shock: Key Figure Steps Down for New Horizons

Yogesh Karan, the Permanent Secretary for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and the Sugar Industry, has announced his resignation, effective November 1, 2024. Public Service Commission chairperson Luke Rokovada communicated this decision yesterday, noting that Karan will be pursuing a career focused on national and international development with an international organization based in Fiji.

Rokovada expressed his best wishes for Karan’s future endeavors, highlighting his extensive experience of over 20 years in senior government roles, including serving as High Commissioner to India and in various capacities within the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Sugar Industry.

“The Fiji Government expresses its gratitude to Yogesh Karan for his long and distinguished service in key public sector positions, including ambassador and permanent secretary,” Rokovada stated. He also mentioned that the Public Service Commission would begin the search for Karan’s successor in the interim.
