Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka attended the funeral of Diwan Chand Maharaj at the Davuilevu Crematorium to pay tribute to the late entrepreneur and philanthropist. Diwan Chand Maharaj was known for founding Quality Print PTE Limited, one of Fiji’s largest printing companies.
Rabuka reflected on Diwan’s life, highlighting his commitment to the values of love and friendship, which he instilled in his children and the broader community. Diwan’s legacy includes his involvement in various charitable works, notably co-founding Sun Insurance PTE Limited in 1999 and establishing the Kidney Foundation of Fiji.
In addition to his business successes, he was an active member of the community, having participated in numerous charitable organizations, being a longstanding member of the Rotary Club since 1990, and serving as the national president of the Sanatan Dharam Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji.
The Prime Minister fondly recalled attending the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington with Diwan, emphasizing his qualities as a devoted family man, grandfather, great-grandfather, and mentor. Rabuka concluded his tribute with heartfelt condolences, saying, “Moce to’a mada Diwan, may your soul rest in peace.”
