Adult and Teen Challenge (Fiji) is embarking on an ambitious project to develop a comprehensive rehabilitation center aimed at supporting families struggling with substance abuse. Reverend Hemraj Mangal, the executive director of the organization, shared their vision for the center, which includes the construction of four dormitories that would significantly increase their capacity to house up to 80 students.
Currently, the facility accommodates only two students with the capability to support an additional 12. The first phase of their plan entails constructing a dedicated men’s center to assist individuals over 18 years of age, with each dormitory designed to hold 20 students. Plans also include the establishment of a women’s and children’s center, ensuring comprehensive support for families in need.
Mr. Mangal emphasized the pressing demand for such facilities, citing numerous individuals ensnared by drug and substance abuse. He expressed hope that, with faith and community support, funding for this essential project will materialize.
The organization’s methodology is grounded in proven practices, as it is part of Global Teen Challenge, a network that operates over 1,400 centers across 140 countries, providing training and resources for effective rehabilitation.
This initiative represents a critical step toward addressing the challenges posed by substance abuse within communities. As the Adult and Teen Challenge (Fiji) plans to expand its capabilities, it highlights the essential need for supportive environments that foster healing, recovery, and family reintegration.
This effort is not just about building facilities; it’s about giving hope to those affected by addiction. By creating a robust support system, they are paving the way for healthier futures and stronger communities.
