Team Boxing Brave head coach Osea Nanovu says he is entering the Bluewater Boxing Promotion this weekend with quiet confidence as he prepares three fighters for what he describes as a crucial test of stamina, discipline and mental toughness. Nanovu told reporters the camp has focused heavily on the psychological side of preparation, convinced that a strong mindset will carry his men through the pressure of fight night.

Leading the stable is Sainivalati Ratu, who has been confirmed to headline the two-day show when he meets former Fiji heavyweight champion James Singh in the main bout. Nanovu said Ratu has trained with discipline and is ready to step up against the more experienced Singh, calling the matchup an ideal platform for Ratu to show his progress. “We are looking forward to this weekend because the boys have worked hard and this is their chance to show what they can do,” Nanovu said.

The main supporting bout will feature another of Nanovu’s charges, Mikaele Ravalaca, who enters the ring as the holder of two titles including the Oceania WBA belt. Ravalaca is slated to take on Kaliova Tahika in what Nanovu expects will be a stern test for both fighters and a highlight of the undercard. The coach said Ravalaca’s title experience should give him an edge but stressed that the preparation has been aimed at sharpening fitness and focus rather than relying on credentials alone.

Filise Nabua rounds out the trio from Team Boxing Brave and is also expected to feature prominently on the card. Nanovu said Nabua has been training hard and remains “fully focused” ahead of his contest. When asked about Nabua’s mindset, Nanovu laughed and relayed the boxer’s succinct message: “Filise said he will win.” The coach reiterated his emphasis on mental strength, adding: “If you are mentally strong, you can push your body to the limit. But if you are weak mentally, your mind gives up under pressure.”

Nanovu expressed full faith in his fighters’ readiness, insisting their preparations have been comprehensive. “For me, it is positive. They will definitely do well,” he said, framing the weekend as an opportunity for local talent to make statements in front of a home crowd. The Bluewater Boxing Promotion is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka, with gates opening at 3pm and action beginning at 4pm.

The event is one of several regional shows aimed at keeping Fiji’s boxing scene active and giving emerging fighters exposure against established names. With Ratu headlining against a former national champion and Ravalaca defending his standing as a titleholder, the card will be watched closely by fans and scouts looking for the next wave of Fijian boxing talent.
