Ratu Suliano Matanitobua Requests Meeting Regarding Namosi Development Company

The Chief of Namosi, Ratu Suliano Matanitobua, has issued an apology to the province’s residents due to the lack of clear communication regarding the province’s company.

Namosi Development Company Ltd (NDCL) was established in 1994 and has been operational for 30 years. The company’s original plan was to be owned by the province, but currently, only a few individuals hold shares in the company.

This issue was brought up during the Namosi Provincial Council Meeting held at the Pearl Resort, Pacific Harbour, on Thursday this week.

Minister for Infrastructure and Provincial Meeting member, Maciu Katamotu, questioned the management of the provincial company, expressing concerns from the province’s residents.

“We want the company to succeed and generate income. The people deserve to know if the company will be restructured and receive confirmation that it belongs to the province.”

“I hope a special meeting will be called soon to address this issue because the people are concerned and have many questions,” added Katamotu.

Ratu Suliano shared that for 20 years, he has been advocating for the establishment of a committee or think tank to oversee the company’s operations. This committee was finally formed last week and will manage the company’s activities.

During his two-year incarceration at Naboro Correctional Facility, Ratu Suliano had been planning for the provincial company. He noted that out of the four shareholders of the company, three have passed away, leaving him as the sole remaining shareholder.

“A meeting will be convened to bring in an auditor to present the company’s financial plans to the community,” he concluded.
