Ratu Josaia Niudamu, the newly appointed Assistant Minister for Justice, received a heartfelt reception from the villagers of Namara in Ra during his first official visit on Monday. This gathering served as a significant consultation event for the Liwativale District, where the elders warmly welcomed him, showcasing their appreciation for a government presence in their community. “I was pleasantly surprised by such an enthusiastic welcome,” Ratu Niudamu remarked, expressing his delight in the respect and hospitality shown by the villagers.

Niudamu, a qualified lawyer and chief from Ra, was sworn in just last Friday and is eager to fulfill his role in the government. He has expressed a strong commitment to supporting Minister Siromi Turaga in the implementation of various governmental frameworks throughout the Coalition Government’s term, ahead of the anticipated elections next year.

In his previous comments, Niudamu emphasized his dedication to the legal system and ensuring access to justice for all Fijians. Drawing upon his extensive legal background, which includes over a decade of experience with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution and his own legal firm, Niudamu brings significant expertise to his role. Interestingly, he began his political journey with the FijiFirst party but transitioned to join the Group of 9 (G9), showing his commitment to working closely with Prime Minister Turaga and aligning with the People’s Alliance.

Looking ahead, Niudamu hinted that he might consider running in the upcoming elections, highlighting the importance of timing in such a decision. His collaborative approach with Minister Turaga indicates a proactive effort to improve governance and service delivery in Fiji, fostering hope for positive changes in the political landscape.

The warm welcome in Namara village marks a promising start to Niudamu’s tenure, reflecting a broader sentiment of optimism and community engagement as he embarks on his journey in public service. This engagement illustrates the government’s commitment to listening to the needs of the people and restoring trust between the government and its citizens, setting a hopeful tone for the months to come.
