The under-18 team from Ratu Navula College received a significant morale boost on Saturday, as a large crowd of parents from the West gathered at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva to show their support during the quarter-finals of the Vodafone Super Deans tournament against Mahatma Gandhi.
Taniela Vocevoce, the president of the parents’ association, expressed gratitude for the turnout, noting that parents had come from various regions, including Taveuni. “Today’s match was highly anticipated, and we’ve been preparing for a long time,” said Vocevoce. “I believe every village in Nadi is represented here to support the boys, along with those from the 14 provinces living in Nadi.”
Vocevoce highlighted the appreciation for parents who traveled from other parts of Fiji and the contributions of alumni. “We entered today with confidence, expecting to leave victorious in this national quarter-final,” he added.
Looking ahead, Vocevoce mentioned that the turnout for the semi-finals next week would be exceptional. “We are eagerly anticipating next week’s game and feel positive about our chances,” he stated. “The Dean’s Cup is familiar to us; we have won it before, and we aim to reclaim that glory.”
He also acknowledged the support and blessings from the traditional pillars of the Vanua of Nadi.
