Ratu Navula College is determined to secure the Vodafone Deans Trophy this year. This commitment was expressed by the Under-18 team manager Mitieli Qumi after their narrow quarterfinal victory of 16-10 against Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School.
In an interview, Qumi stated that the team’s objective is to restore the dominance of Western teams in the national finals and acknowledged MGM as strong contenders this year. “They were favorites to win this year,” he remarked, highlighting MGM’s reputation as a formidable team.
The RNC players showcased strong defensive skills in the final minutes of the game, successfully preventing MGM from scoring. Qumi acknowledged that while they have progressed to the semifinals, there is still room for improvement. “There were mistakes, but we will regroup and come back as a better team,” he noted.
Ratu Navula College will be facing defending champions Queen Victoria School in the semifinals. Qumi emphasized the team’s focus, saying, “We are here for business and we are here to play. Our biggest strength is the spiritual support from our families and the school.”
