Ratu Navula College is serious about claiming the Vodafone Deans Trophy this season. This statement came from the Under-18 team manager, Mitieli Qumi, following their quarterfinal victory against Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School, where they secured a close 16-10 win.
In a conversation with SUNsports, Qumi emphasized the team’s objective of restoring the Western teams’ dominance in the national finals. He acknowledged MGM as the favorites for this year’s tournament and expressed admiration for their strong performance as they arrived in Suva.
The RNC players showcased solid defensive skills in the last minutes of the match, preventing MGM from scoring. Despite reaching the semifinals, Qumi noted areas that needed improvement. “There were mistakes, but we will regroup and return as a better team,” he remarked.
RNC is now set to face the reigning Deans Trophy champions, Queen Victoria School, in the semifinals. “We are here for business and ready to play. Our greatest strength comes from the spiritual support of our families and the school,” Qumi added.
