Ratu Navula College Sets Sights on Deans Trophy Glory

Ratu Navula College is serious about their pursuit of the Vodafone Deans Trophy. This sentiment was expressed by Mitieli Qumi, the Under-18 team manager, following their quarterfinal victory of 16-10 against Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School.

In an interview, Qumi emphasized the team’s objective of restoring the Western teams’ dominance at the national finals. He acknowledged that Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School was favored to win this year and noted their impressive track record when they arrived in Suva.

The RNC players displayed strong defensive skills during the final moments of the match, effectively preventing MGM from scoring. While Qumi was pleased with their semifinal advancement, he recognized the need for improvement.

“There were mistakes, but we will regroup and return stronger,” he stated. RNC is set to face the reigning Deans Trophy champions, Queen Victoria School, in the upcoming semifinal.

Qumi highlighted the team’s commitment, saying, “We are here for business and we are here to play. Our greatest strength comes from the spiritual support of our families and school.”
