Ratu Navula College is determined to claim the Vodafone Deans Trophy, as highlighted by the Under-18 team manager Mitieli Qumi following their narrow 16-10 victory against Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School in the quarterfinals.
In an interview, Qumi emphasized the team’s aspiration to reestablish the supremacy of Western teams in the national finals. “MGM were the favorites to win this year,” he noted, acknowledging the respected status of the opposing team.
The RNC players demonstrated strong defensive skills in the final minutes of the match, preventing MGM from advancing. Despite reaching the semifinals, Qumi believes there is still potential for improvement. “There were mistakes, but we will regroup and come back a better team,” he stated.
RNC is set to face the reigning Deans Trophy champions, Queen Victoria School, in the semifinal. Qumi asserted, “We are here for business and we are here to play. Our biggest strength is the spiritual support from our families and the school.”
