Ratu Navula College is determined to succeed in the Vodafone Deans Trophy, as highlighted by their Under-18 team manager, Mitieli Qumi, following their 16-10 victory over Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School in the quarterfinals.
In an interview, Qumi emphasized the team’s ambition to restore the superiority of Western teams in the national finals. He mentioned that Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School was favored to win this year, and acknowledged their strong reputation when the team traveled to Suva.
The RNC players displayed strong defensive skills in the closing minutes of the match, successfully preventing MGM from scoring. Qumi remarked that, despite reaching the semifinals, there are areas that require improvement. He stated, “There were mistakes but we will regroup and come back a better team.”
Ratu Navula College is set to face the defending champions, Queen Victoria School, in the semifinals. Qumi expressed their focus on the competition, stating, “We are here for business and we are here to play. Our biggest strength is the spiritual support from our families and the school.”
