Ratu Navula College is serious about claiming the Vodafone Deans Trophy. This commitment was highlighted by the Under-18 team manager, Mitieli Qumi, after their quarterfinal victory against Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School with a score of 16-10.
In an interview, Qumi emphasized the team’s objective of restoring Western teams’ dominance in the national finals. “MGM were favorites to win this year,” he stated, noting their talented squad.
The RNC players showcased fierce defensive skills in the final minutes of the match, successfully keeping MGM from scoring. Qumi acknowledged that while reaching the semifinal is an achievement, there is still potential for improvement. “There were mistakes, but we will regroup and come back a better team,” he added.
RNC is set to go up against the defending champions, Queen Victoria School, in the semifinals. Qumi expressed confidence, saying, “We are here for business and we are here to play. Our biggest strength is the spiritual support from our families and the school.”
