Ratu Navula College is serious about claiming the Vodafone Deans Trophy this year. The determination was expressed by the Under-18 team manager, Mitieli Qumi, following their quarterfinal victory over Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School, where they secured a 16-10 win.
In an interview with SUNsports, Qumi emphasized the team’s objective of restoring the Western teams’ dominance in national finals. He acknowledged that MGM was considered the favorite to win the tournament this year and highlighted the respect his team has for them.
The players from Ratu Navula College exhibited a fierce defensive strategy in the closing moments of the match, successfully keeping MGM from scoring. Qumi noted that while they have advanced to the semifinals, there is still room for improvement. “There were mistakes, but we will regroup and come back a stronger team,” he stated.
Ratu Navula College will now face Queen Victoria School, the defending champions of the Deans Trophy, in the semifinal match. Qumi declared, “We are here for business and we are here to play. Our greatest strength comes from the spiritual support of our families and the school.”
