Ratu Navula College is determined to succeed in the Vodafone Deans Trophy, according to the Under-18 team manager Mitieli Qumi, following their narrow 16-10 victory against Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School in the quarterfinals.
In an interview with SUNsports, Qumi expressed the team’s ambition to restore the prominence of Western teams in the national finals. He acknowledged MGM as the favorites for this year’s trophy and reflected on the team’s respect for them prior to the match, recognizing their reputation as a strong opponent.
The RNC players demonstrated robust defensive skills, particularly in the closing minutes of the game, ensuring they maintained their lead over MGM. Despite their semifinal berth, Qumi noted there is still room for improvement, stating, “There were mistakes but we will regroup and come back a better team.”
Ratu Navula College is set to face the defending champions, Queen Victoria School, in the semifinals. Qumi highlighted that their key strength lies in the spiritual support received from their families and the school, stating, “We are here for business and we are here to play.”
