Ratu Navula College is determined to secure victory in the Vodafone Deans Trophy this year. This commitment was highlighted by the Under-18 team manager, Mitieli Qumi, following their narrow 16-10 quarterfinal win against Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School.
In an interview with SUNsports, Qumi stated that the team’s objective is to restore the Western teams’ dominance in the national finals. He acknowledged MGM as the favorites for this year’s competition, remarking on their strong reputation as a formidable opponent.
The RNC players displayed fierce defensive skills in the game’s closing moments, preventing MGM from scoring. Despite advancing to the semifinals, Qumi noted areas for improvement, saying, “There were mistakes but we will regroup and come back a better team.”
Looking ahead, RNC will face the reigning Deans Trophy champions, Queen Victoria School, in the semifinals. Qumi emphasized the team’s focus and readiness, stating, “We are here for business and we are here to play. Our biggest strength is the spiritual support from our families and the school.”
