Ratu Navula College is determined to secure the Vodafone Deans Trophy, as highlighted by Under-18 team manager Mitieli Qumi following their quarterfinal victory over Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School with a score of 16-10.
In an interview with SUNsports, Qumi expressed the team’s aim to restore the supremacy of Western teams in the national finals. He acknowledged the formidable reputation of MGM, who were considered favorites for this year’s tournament.
The RNC players demonstrated strong defensive skills in the closing moments of their match, successfully preventing MGM from scoring. While pleased with reaching the semifinals, Qumi noted that there is still plenty of room for improvement. He mentioned, “There were mistakes, but we will regroup and come back as a better team.”
Ratu Navula College is set to face the defending Deans Trophy champions, Queen Victoria School, in the semifinal match. Qumi emphasized the team’s commitment to their goal, stating, “We are here for business and we are here to play. Our biggest strength is the spiritual support from our families and the school.”
