Ratu Navula College is determined to secure victory in the Vodafone Deans Trophy. This commitment was highlighted by the team’s Under-18 manager, Mitieli Qumi, following their quarterfinal match, where they defeated Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School with a score of 16-10.
In an interview, Qumi expressed the team’s intent to restore the dominance of Western teams in national finals. “MGM were favorites to win this year,” he stated, acknowledging the strength of their opponents. “We looked up to them when we came to Suva since they were a very good team,” he added.
The RNC players showcased a strong defensive performance in the final moments of the game, successfully keeping MGM from scoring. Despite their progress to the semifinals, Qumi noted that there is still room for improvement. “There were mistakes, but we will regroup and come back a better team,” he remarked.
Next, RNC is set to face the defending Deans Trophy champions, Queen Victoria School, in the semifinals. “We are here for business and we are here to play. Our biggest strength is the spiritual support from our families and the school,” Qumi concluded.
