Ratu Navula College is determined to secure victory in the Vodafone Deans Trophy. This commitment was expressed by the Under-18 team manager, Mitieli Qumi, following their quarterfinal triumph, where they defeated Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School with a score of 16-10.
In an interview, Qumi highlighted the team’s objective of restoring the prominence of Western teams in the national finals. He acknowledged that MGM entered the tournament as favorites and recognized their strong reputation.
The RNC players displayed exceptional defensive skills in the closing minutes of the match, successfully preventing any scoring attempts from MGM. Qumi noted that while advancing to the semifinal is an achievement, there is still potential for improvement.
“We made some mistakes, but we will regroup and return as a stronger team,” he stated. RNC is set to face the reigning Deans Trophy champions, Queen Victoria School, in the semifinal.
“We are serious about our goals and prepared to compete. Our greatest strength comes from the spiritual support of our families and school,” Qumi added.
