Ratu Navula College Eyes Vodafone Deans Trophy Glory

Ratu Navula College is determined to secure victory in the Vodafone Deans Trophy. This commitment was expressed by the RNC Under-18 team manager Mitieli Qumi following their narrow quarterfinal win over Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School, with a final score of 16-10.

In an interview, Qumi stated that their objective is to restore the dominance of Western teams in the national finals. He acknowledged that Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School was a strong contender this year, noting, “MGM were favourites to win this year. We looked up to them when we came to Suva since they were a very good team.”

During the match, RNC displayed a fierce defensive performance in the final moments, successfully keeping MGM from scoring. Qumi recognized that, despite reaching the semifinal, there is still room for growth. “There were mistakes but we will regroup and come back a better team,” he emphasized.

RNC is set to compete against the defending Deans Trophy champions, Queen Victoria School, in the semifinal. Qumi stressed their serious approach to the competition, stating, “We are here for business and we are here to play. Our biggest strength is the spiritual support from our families and the school.”
