Ratu Navula College is determined to secure the Vodafone Deans Trophy, as stated by the Under-18 team’s manager, Mitieli Qumi, following their quarterfinal victory over Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School with a score of 16-10.
In an interview, Qumi emphasized the importance of restoring the dominance of Western teams in the national finals. He acknowledged that Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School entered the tournament as favorites, noting their reputation as a strong team.
The players of Ratu Navula College demonstrated strong defensive skills in the final moments of the match, effectively preventing any scoring from MGM. Qumi mentioned that while they have advanced to the semifinal, there is still significant room for improvement. He noted, “There were mistakes but we will regroup and come back a better team.”
Ratu Navula College will now compete against the reigning Deans Trophy champions, Queen Victoria School, in the semifinal. Qumi expressed their determination, stating, “We are here for business and we are here to play. Our biggest strength is the spiritual support from our families and the school.”
