Ratu Navula College is determined to secure the Vodafone Deans Trophy. Under-18 team manager Mitieli Qumi made this clear following their quarterfinal victory of 16-10 over Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School. In an interview, Qumi noted that their aim is to restore the dominance of Western teams in the national finals.
Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School was considered the favorite this year, and Qumi expressed admiration for their competitiveness when they arrived in Suva. The RNC players displayed strong defensive skills towards the end of the match, preventing MGM from scoring.
Although they have advanced to the semifinal, Qumi acknowledged that there is still room for improvement. “We made some mistakes, but we will regroup and return as a stronger team,” he said.
RNC is set to face defending champions Queen Victoria School in the semifinal. Qumi emphasized their commitment, saying, “We are here for business and we are here to play. Our greatest strength lies in the spiritual support from our families and the school.”
