Ratu Navula College is determined to secure the Vodafone Deans Trophy this year. This commitment was confirmed by the Under-18 team manager, Mitieli Qumi, following their quarterfinal victory against Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School, where they won 16-10.

In a conversation with SUNsports, Qumi expressed the team’s ambition to restore the Western teams’ dominance in the national finals. He noted that Mahatma Gandhi Memorial was considered a top contender this year and acknowledged their strength, saying they looked up to them when they arrived in Suva.

Qumi highlighted the RNC players’ strong defensive performance in the closing minutes of the match, which kept their opponents from scoring. Despite their semifinal advancement, he admitted there is still room for improvement.

“There were mistakes but we will regroup and come back a better team,” Qumi stated. RNC is set to face the defending champions, Queen Victoria School, in the upcoming semifinal.

“Our focus is on the game and we are here to compete. Our greatest strength comes from the spiritual support of our families and the school,” he added.
