Ratu Navula College Aims for Deans Trophy Glory!

Ratu Navula College is focused on achieving success in the Vodafone Deans Trophy. This determination was expressed by the Under-18 team manager, Mitieli Qumi, following their narrow quarterfinal victory over Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School, which ended with a score of 16-10.

In an interview with SUNsports, Qumi emphasized the team’s commitment to re-establishing the dominance of Western teams in the national finals. He acknowledged the challenge posed by MGM, who were considered favorites this year, stating that they had looked up to them as a strong opponent during their time in Suva.

The RNC team showcased their defensive strength in the closing moments of the match, successfully preventing MGM from scoring. While they have advanced to the semifinal, Qumi noted that there is still room for improvement within the team. “There were mistakes but we will regroup and come back a better team,” he remarked.

Looking ahead, RNC will face the defending Deans Trophy champions, Queen Victoria School, in the semifinals. Qumi underscored their serious approach to the competition, saying, “We are here for business and we are here to play. Our biggest strength is the spiritual support from our families and the school.”
