Ratu Kadavulevu School continued their impressive performance last Saturday by securing the Vodafone Deans Trophy Under-17 title. This team has maintained an undefeated streak since entering the U14 grade.
In an interview with SUNsports, head coach Usaia Naqicitabua expressed confidence in the team’s readiness for the upcoming year, aiming to restore the school’s glory in Delainakaikai. “During the halftime break, I told the boys to focus on defense since this is the final,” Naqicitabua stated. “We cannot afford to make lazy mistakes at crucial moments in the match.”
He noted that the team was thoroughly prepared and managed to stay composed, particularly in the final ten minutes of the match, which contributed to their victory.
Naqicitabua highlighted the importance of unity among the players as the key to their success. “About 12 players who initially formed this team have moved on, yet credit goes to the current boys for building this legacy.”
When asked about their objectives for next year, Naqicitabua remarked, “It has been a long time since the school has aimed to reclaim the Under-18 title. It will be a challenge for us, but we are committed to preparing and working hard to bring back the glory.”
