Ratu Kadavulevu School continued their dominance in rugby by securing the Vodafone Deans Trophy Under-17 title last Saturday. The team has maintained an impressive unbeaten streak since the Under-14 level.
In an interview with SUNsports, head coach Usaia Naqicitabua expressed confidence in the team’s preparation for the upcoming season, with aspirations to restore Delainakaikai’s rugby prestige. He emphasized the importance of a strong defense during halftime, reminding the players to avoid critical mistakes in the final moments of the match.
Naqicitabua highlighted the team’s thorough preparation and composure, particularly during the last ten minutes of the final, which contributed to their victory. He praised the unity and camaraderie among the players, noting that despite losing about 12 original members of the squad, the current team has succeeded in building a lasting legacy.
Looking ahead, Naqicitabua stated that the team’s objective for the next year will be to reclaim the Under-18 title, which has evaded the school for an extended period. He acknowledged the challenges ahead but expressed determination to work hard and bring glory back to the institution.
