Ratu Kadavulevu School continued their impressive winning streak last Saturday, clinching the Vodafone Deans Trophy Under-17 title. This team has gone unbeaten since the U14 grade.
In an interview with SUNsports, head coach Usaia Naqicitabua expressed confidence for next year as the team aims to bring glory back to Delainakaikai. “During the halftime break, I told the boys to focus on defense since this is the final,” Naqicitabua shared. He emphasized the need to eliminate careless mistakes during critical moments of the match.
Naqicitabua noted that the team was well-prepared and managed to stay composed, particularly in the last 10 minutes of the game, which was key to their victory.
“The secret to our success lies in the unity and bond among the players. Although about 12 original players have moved on, the current team deserves recognition for continuing this legacy,” he commented.
When discussing the goals for the upcoming year, Naqicitabua stated, “I believe it has been a long time since our school has aimed to reclaim the Under-18 title. It will be a challenge, but we are committed to preparing thoroughly and working hard to achieve that goal.”
