Ratu Kadavulevu School continued their impressive streak last Saturday by winning the Vodafone Deans Trophy Under-17 title. This remarkable team has remained undefeated since they started competing at the U14 level.
In an interview with SUNsports, head coach Usaia Naqicitabua expressed the team’s determination to reclaim glory for Delainakaikai next year. He emphasized the importance of strong defense during halftime, urging his players to avoid making careless mistakes at critical moments in the match.
Naqicitabua noted that the team was well-prepared and managed to maintain their composure, particularly in the final 10 minutes of the game, which contributed to their success.
He attributed the achievements of the team to unity and camaraderie among the players. Although about 12 members who started with the team have moved on, he praised the current players for building a strong legacy.
Looking ahead to next year, Naqicitabua acknowledged the long-standing goal of the school to win back the Under-18 title. He recognized the challenge ahead but assured that the team would train diligently to restore their former glory.
