Ratu Kadavulevu School continued their impressive streak by winning the Vodafone Deans Trophy Under-17 title last Saturday. This team has maintained an unbeaten record since the Under-14 level.
In an interview with SUNsports, head coach Usaia Naqicitabua expressed confidence in the team’s readiness for next year as they aim to restore their glory at Delainakaikai. He noted that during halftime, he urged the players to tighten their defense, emphasizing the importance of avoiding careless mistakes in critical moments.
Naqicitabua highlighted the team’s preparation and composure, especially in the final ten minutes of the match, which contributed to their success. He attributed the team’s performance to strong unity and camaraderie, mentioning that while around 12 original players have moved on, the current group has continued to create a legacy.
When discussing future goals, Naqicitabua acknowledged the long-standing effort to reclaim the Under-18 title. He stated that while it would present a challenge, they are committed to working hard to bring back the school’s glory.
