Ratu Kadavulevu School continued their impressive streak by winning the Vodafone Deans Trophy Under-17 title last Saturday. The team boasts an undefeated record dating back to the Under-14 level.
In an interview with SUNsports, head coach Usaia Naqicitabua expressed the team’s readiness for next year as they aim to restore their glory at Delainakaikai. “During halftime, I instructed the boys to tighten up on defense since this was the final match,” Naqicitabua stated. “We cannot afford to make careless mistakes at critical moments in the game.”
He noted that the team remained calm and composed, particularly in the final ten minutes of the match, which played a crucial role in their victory.
“The key to our success has been the unity and bond among the players. Even though about 12 players who started this journey have moved on, I commend the current team for continuing this legacy,” he added.
When discussing their ambitions for the upcoming year, Naqicitabua mentioned, “It has been quite some time since the school has been able to reclaim the Under-18 title. This will be a significant challenge, but we will prepare diligently to bring the glory back.”
