Hundreds of alumni from Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS) gathered at Albert Park to celebrate the school’s 100th anniversary. Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, the chief guest, acknowledged the significant role the school has played since its founding in 1924. He commended RKS for its long history and its contributions to producing influential leaders in the nation’s development. The anniversary celebrations will extend over a week and include various activities and sports events.
Named after the great-grandson of Ratu Cakobau, Ratu Penaia Kadavulevu, the school holds a prominent history that the community is proudly recognizing. The festivities commenced on Sunday with a church service at the Centenary Church in Suva.
Today’s agenda features a program titled “Training and Investment Opportunity” from 5:30 PM to 11 PM at the Suva Civic Centre. This event aims to assist former students who are facing employment challenges by providing them with empowerment and guidance from various ministries.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, will highlight Wellness and Sports Day at Albert Park starting at 3 PM, featuring a competition between RKS and nearby Queen Victoria School.
Thursday will kick off with a traditional ceremony aimed at educating current students about cultural practices, with the Vunivalu na Tui Kaba, Ratu Epenisa Cakobau, serving as the chief guest. After lunch, a pass-out parade will take place, featuring the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, Ro Jone Kalouniwai, as the principal guest.
Additionally, Mr. Rabuka has called on the school community and parents to collaborate with the government in addressing drug abuse issues. He expressed his hope that RKS will continue to serve as a beacon of hope and make positive contributions to the country in the future.
