Hundreds of alumni from Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS) gathered at Albert Park to celebrate the school’s 100th anniversary. Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, the chief guest, acknowledged the significant influence the school has had since its founding in 1924. He commended RKS for its century-long legacy and its contribution to shaping influential leaders who have advanced the nation. The celebrations will include a variety of activities and sports competitions throughout the week.
RKS, named after the great-grandson of Ratu Cakobau, Ratu Penaia Kadavulevu, boasts a proud history that the community is commemorating. The festivities kicked off on Sunday with a church service at the Centenary Church in Suva.
Scheduled events include a “Training and Investment Opportunity” program today from 5:30 PM to 11 PM at the Suva Civic Centre, aimed at assisting alumni seeking employment through various ministry sessions focused on empowerment and guidance.
Tomorrow, there will be a Wellness and Sports Day starting at 3 PM at Albert Park, featuring a competition between RKS and neighboring Queen Victoria School.
On Thursday, celebrations will begin with a traditional ceremony aimed at educating current students about their cultural heritage, with Vunivalu na Tui Kaba, Ratu Epenisa Cakobau, serving as chief guest. Following lunch, there will be a school pass-out parade, with the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Commander, Ro Jone Kalouniwai, presiding as chief guest.
Additionally, Prime Minister Rabuka urged the school community and parents to collaborate with the government in combating drug abuse. He expressed his hope that RKS will continue to serve as a guiding light and make positive contributions to the nation in the future.
