Hundreds of alumni from Ratu Kadavulevu School and their families gathered at Albert Park in Suva to kick off the school’s 100th-year celebrations, braving the rainy weather. During the official opening of the centennial celebration on Monday, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka reflected on the school’s history and its accomplishments over the years.
“RKS is renowned in Fiji for its achievements in sports, particularly in athletics and rugby,” Mr. Rabuka stated. He noted that it is the only school to have held the Deans Trophy for six consecutive years and the only school to have won all grades in the secondary competition.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the week-long celebration would not only showcase the school’s rich legacy but also allow everyone to recognize its significant impact on individuals, communities, and the nation as a whole.
“I congratulate the former staff, teachers, and families who are here today. You have raised some exemplary individuals,” he remarked. Mr. Rabuka expressed his hope that RKS would continue to serve as a beacon of hope, knowledge, and character, producing outstanding citizens who will make meaningful contributions to the nation in the future.
