Ratu Ilisaniti Malodali, the Tui Nadogo, has urged villages in Nadogo, Macuata, to limit kava consumption. He emphasized the importance of allowing parents to spend more quality time with their children.
According to Ratu Ilisaniti, there is a proper time for everything, and it is crucial for fathers to be present at home to supervise their children. He stated, “A father figure is essential in a household, as it promotes discipline within the family. Any wrongdoings should not be tolerated.”
He highlighted the need for children to receive guidance on how to behave in their community, stressing the importance of religious teachings from parents. Ratu Ilisaniti expressed concern about the growing influence of technology and criminal activities among youths, stating that these trends could undermine the village’s legacy of unity, peace, and growth.
Looking ahead, he mentioned that the next decade will be crucial in determining whether young people stay on the path to success and fulfill national responsibilities. He encouraged youths to focus on their education and secure good employment to resist recruitment into drug trafficking.
Ratu Ilisaniti has previously cautioned the community against cultivating marijuana, emphasizing, “Avoid planting such illegal drugs and concentrate on alternative farming methods to enhance income.”
With a push for community-police partnerships, he insisted that greater efforts are needed at the family level to engage children in both religious and traditional practices.
