The community of Ra raised $117,000 during the Siga Vou Kei Ra Day, held on October 10 at Ra High School. This event, established in 2017, aims to gather funds for a scholarship trust to assist local residents and children whose mothers originate from the province.
Organizer Ratu Josaia Niudamu announced that since its inception, they have successfully raised over $400,000. He emphasized their goal of reaching $500,000, after which they plan to implement the Deed of Trust with the scholarship recipients.
Mr. Niudamu stressed the importance of education for the people of Ra, both locally and internationally. He believes that improved education can lead to significant changes in the community, ultimately helping to break the cycle of poverty currently affecting the province.
