Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Sakeo Raikaci has confirmed to Fiji One News that he has applied for the position of Police Commissioner. He stated, “Yes, I applied for the post,” emphasizing that the decision now rests with the Constitutional Offices Commission (COC). Raikaci expressed his readiness to assume the role.
A graduate of the University of the South Pacific, Raikaci holds a Bachelor of Law Degree, a Professional Diploma in Legal Practice, and a Certificate in Criminal Law. His experience includes serving in various units, including the Uniform Branch, Crime, and Major Fraud Unit.
Home Affairs Minister Pio Tikoduadua previously mentioned that the next Police Commissioner of Fiji will be a local candidate selected from within the Fiji Police Force. The Constitutional Offices Commission is set to meet to make a decision on the leadership of the police force, following the closure of applications yesterday.
