Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Sakeo Raikaci has confirmed his application for the position of Police Commissioner. Raikaci stated, “Yes, I applied for the post,” adding that the decision rests with the Constitutional Offices Commission, but he is prepared to assume the role.
Raikaci holds a Bachelor of Law degree and a Professional Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of the South Pacific, along with a Certificate in Criminal Law. He has experience in various units, including the Uniform Branch and the Crime and Major Fraud Unit.
Home Affairs Minister Pio Tikoduadua has noted that the next Police Commissioner will be a local candidate selected from within the Fiji Police Force. The Constitutional Offices Commission is set to convene to determine the new leadership of the police force, following the closure of applications.
