Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has announced plans to redistribute some of his ministerial duties in the upcoming year as he grapples with an overwhelming workload. At present, he is responsible for a wide array of portfolios, such as Foreign Affairs, Climate Change, Civil Service, Public Enterprises, Police, and Immigration.

At 76 years old, Rabuka has expressed that the extensive demands of these roles have become increasingly taxing, leading him to sometimes spend sleepless nights reviewing ministerial documents. He acknowledges that the heavy load has impacted his ability to serve effectively and is optimistic that by reassigning certain portfolios, he will enhance his effectiveness as a leader.

This decision could signal a proactive approach to governance, emphasizing the importance of ensuring leaders can manage their responsibilities without becoming overburdened. By streamlining duties, Rabuka demonstrates a commitment to improved leadership and the welfare of his constituents, suggesting a hopeful transition into a more efficient administration in the new year.

Overall, this move is a reminder of the importance of recognizing one’s limits and taking necessary steps towards a more balanced approach in leadership roles.
