Rabuka’s Assurance: Transparency in FICAC Inquiry Process

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has stated that he does not have the authority to directly order a Commission of Inquiry into the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC). He noted that such a commission can only be initiated by the President, based on the Prime Minister’s advice. Rabuka is currently reviewing the Commission of Inquiries Act to formulate his recommendations for the President.

Following that, he will establish and announce the Terms of Reference for the inquiry.

“The shorter this process is, the better. Many Fijians are questioning the integrity of some institutions, and the sooner we reveal the facts, the better it will be for everyone,” he remarked.

While the members of the Commission have not yet been finalized, Rabuka assured that this matter would be resolved shortly. He expressed his commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability during the process and thanked the public for their patience.
