Sitiveni Rabuka, the leader of the People’s Alliance Party and current Prime Minister, has not disclosed his plans for the 2026 elections, amid increasing speculation regarding his candidacy. Although Rabuka has not officially announced whether he will run again, he did not dismiss the possibility when asked about it.

Concerns have been raised regarding the party’s adherence to its manifesto, with some arguing that it has been diluted under the Coalition Government. Rabuka acknowledged these concerns and revealed that he is still weighing his options. “It will depend on my availability,” he stated. “I’ll have to join the queue and be subjected to the selection panel at the time. I will still have to be one of the applicants.”

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his candidacy, Rabuka is aware that many supporters hope for his leadership in the upcoming election. “Some of you have raised those issues in various media platforms—things that have been done and things that haven’t been,” he noted. He pointed out that the party has not fulfilled all its goals partly due to its alliance, but mentioned that they had a constructive meeting.

Rabuka emphasized that the party’s manifesto might evolve and encouraged supporters to share their thoughts during party meetings. “As our party’s name reflects, it is the People’s Alliance. The people come together, and we are aligned,” he said. “We are in an alliance, a friendship of people with a common objective: to lead the country properly by the people’s will, guided by a vision for the country’s betterment.”
