Sitiveni Rabuka, the leader of the People’s Alliance Party and the current Prime Minister, has not disclosed any specific plans regarding his potential candidacy for the upcoming 2026 elections, despite increasing speculation about his future. While he has not officially confirmed whether he will run again, he has indicated that he is open to the idea when asked about his intentions for the next electoral race.

Concerns have been raised regarding the party’s deviation from its original manifesto, with some critics arguing that this shift has occurred under the Coalition Government. Rabuka acknowledged these concerns, stating that he is still contemplating his options. “It will depend on my availability,” he remarked. “I’ll have to join the queue and be subjected to the selection panel at the time. I will still have to be one of the applicants.”

Despite the prevailing uncertainty, Rabuka is aware of the enthusiasm among many party supporters who wish for him to lead them in the next election. “Some of you have raised those issues in various media platforms—things that have been done and things that haven’t been,” he said. He noted that not all goals have been achieved, partially due to the nature of their alliance, but he highlighted that they had a very productive meeting.

Rabuka also emphasized that the party’s manifesto is subject to change and encouraged supporters to share their ideas during party gatherings. “As our party’s name reflects, it is the People’s Alliance. The people come together, and we are aligned,” he stated. “We are in an alliance, a friendship of people with a common objective: to lead the country properly by the people’s will, guided by a vision for the country’s betterment.”
