Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has reassured the public that any formal complaints will be thoroughly evaluated before any action is taken.
Addressing concerns regarding recent images involving FICAC Commissioner Barbara Malimali, Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions John Rabuku, and Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga, Rabuka stated that they were appointed by the appropriate authorities and that the issues emerging during their tenure need to be addressed by the proper entities.
He emphasized that decisions regarding suspensions or actions against those involved will be made by the Constitutional Officers’ Commission (COC) and other relevant organizations.
“The decision to suspend will come from the Commission, as it concerns individuals appointed by the COC and others by different authorities,” Rabuka said. “We will have to await the decisions of these bodies before proceeding with any suspensions.”
He noted that once a decision is reached, appropriate investigative agencies will review the incidents and make recommendations on whether termination or reinstatement is warranted.
Rabuka reaffirmed his Government’s commitment to upholding the law and ensuring that proper procedures are followed in every case.
