Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has guaranteed the public that any formal complaints will be thoroughly examined before any subsequent actions are taken.
In response to concerns raised about recent images involving FICAC Commissioner Barbara Malimali, Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions John Rabuku, and Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga, Rabuka remarked, “They were appointed by the appropriate authorities, and these issues have arisen during their tenure. As such, it is the responsibility of the proper authorities to determine their future.”
He clarified that any decision regarding the suspension or action against those involved will originate from the Constitutional Officers’ Commission (COC) and other relevant entities.
“The Commission will make the decision regarding suspensions since it pertains to individuals appointed by the COC and others by different authorities,” he stated.
Rabuka emphasized the need to await decisions from these bodies before any suspensions of the implicated individuals are made.
“Once a decision is reached, the appropriate investigative bodies will assess the incidents and advise on subsequent actions, whether that leads to termination or reinstatement,” he added.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed his Government’s commitment to upholding the law and ensuring that proper procedures are adhered to in every situation.
