Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced that the cabinet will present a document regarding the ‘Investigation’ or ‘Commission of Inquiry’ into allegations made by former Deputy Commissioner of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC), Francis Puleiwai.

In a media briefing, Rabuka stated that the document will outline the ‘Terms of Reference’ and specific objectives for the Commission, which will be considered by the cabinet. He emphasized the necessity of addressing issues that impact the credibility of the Government and its institutions.

Rabuka acknowledged that while the past cannot be changed, the Government is committed to ensuring that similar actions do not occur in the future. He affirmed, “If anyone has contravened orders, the laws or regulations, they would be fully dealt with.”

When asked about Puleiwai’s claims of being threatened by government agents, the Prime Minister denied that such actions came from his administration. He suggested that Puleiwai should report her concerns to the Police if she feels unsafe in Fiji, adding that she would be welcomed back to the country.

Moreover, Rabuka referenced a report that was retracted by ABC, raising questions about the credibility of Puleiwai’s allegations. He assured all Fijians of their safety in the current environment.
