Defending champions Queen Victoria School advanced to the semifinals of the Vodafone Deans U18 competition with a 13-6 victory over Marist Brothers High School in the final quarterfinal held at HFC Bank Stadium.
QVS began the match strongly, scoring their first try in the 20th minute, followed by another try just two minutes later. This quick sequence of points established a 13-3 lead by halftime, putting Marist in a challenging position.
In the second half, QVS struggled to add to their score as Marist tightened their defense and managed to reduce the deficit with a penalty kick, bringing the score to 13-6.
Despite Marist’s efforts in the closing moments of the game, Queen Victoria School’s defense held strong, demonstrating tremendous resilience and determination to maintain their lead, ultimately preventing Marist from scoring any additional points.
