Queens and Kings Battle for Sustainable Crown in Friendly North!

The competition for the Miss Vodafone Friendly North title is expected to be fierce this year, with nine queens participating. This year’s festival, celebrated for its emphasis on beauty and community spirit, has adopted “Sustainable agriculture: Green economy” as its main theme.

Taking place at Subrail Park in Labasa from August 31 to September 7, contestants will promote various aspects of sustainable agriculture. Festival president Zihan Ibrahim emphasized that sustainable agriculture is not merely a trend but an essential move to maintain a healthy and productive environment.

“By focusing on this theme, we aim to raise awareness and encourage positive action toward a greener future,” Ibrahim stated. She also mentioned that proceeds from the festival will help establish a greenhouse for Labasa Hospital, enabling it to provide fresh vegetables for its patients independently.

Additionally, plans are underway to construct a washroom facility on the second ground of the park, which currently lacks proper restroom amenities despite hosting numerous events.

In addition to the queens, three men are competing in the king’s category.
