Punjas has announced the opening of its impressive $55 million Distribution Centre in Lautoka, which is set to become the largest warehouse in the Pacific with the capability of storing 24,000 pallets. This state-of-the-art facility, currently under construction, reflects Punjas’ commitment to upgrading its supply chain capabilities across Fiji and the Pacific region.

The Distribution Centre is a vital component of Punjas’ expansion strategy, aimed at fulfilling the increasing demand for both food and non-food consumables. This initiative will further entrench Punjas’ status as one of the largest privately-owned businesses in Fiji.

During a recent visit to the facility, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Hon. Professor Biman Prasad, expressed that the new centre not only marks a significant achievement for Punjas but also holds great importance for the entire Pacific region. He remarked that it will greatly improve the efficiency of regional supply chains and create new economic prospects, reinforcing Fiji’s position as a major player in the expanding Pacific market.

Founded in 1935, Punjas is approaching its 90th anniversary next year and has continued to flourish, employing over 1,500 people. Management highlighted the company’s substantial impact on the local economy and its growing international presence, supported by its range of Fijian-made products.

Professor Prasad also toured the company’s headquarters and biscuit manufacturing facility, which continues to innovate and enhance the distribution network of Punjas.

In addition to its commercial expansions, Punjas has made a $2.25 million investment to expand the Punjas Medical Centre, offering vital healthcare services to the community. Furthermore, the extension of the Punjas Children’s Park in Lautoka underscores the company’s dedication to improving the quality of life for Fijians.

The visit concluded with a meeting between Professor Prasad and Senior Directors Kanti Punja and Jagjiwan Punja, during which they discussed the company’s vision for the future and its role in fostering economic growth.

As Punjas moves toward its 90th anniversary, it continues to be a pivotal force in Fiji’s economic development and community support.

This new venture by Punjas is not only an investment in infrastructure but also a beacon of hope for enhanced economic growth and community welfare in Fiji, reaffirming the company’s vital role in the region’s future prosperity.
