Two men have been taken into custody by the police after they were filmed intimidating a bus attendant at the Nadi Bus station. According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu, the suspects were arrested for creating disturbances in a public space, a video of which had gained traction on social media.
ACP Driu highlighted that such disruptive behavior poses a serious threat to the safety of both bus drivers and passengers, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere during travel. He urged professional vehicle service (PSV) drivers to report any similar incidents to nearby police stations, community posts, or checkpoints if they experience harassment or disturbances.
In light of the upcoming holiday season, ACP Driu emphasized the importance of keeping an eye out for one another to ensure a safe and incident-free Christmas.
As the police take a firm stand against such behavior, it reflects a commitment to ensuring the safety and comfort of all individuals utilizing public transport. It’s a reminder of the collective responsibility we share in protecting our communities.
