He stressed that it is both a moral and legal obligation to shield children from violence, exploitation, and abuse, as mandated by the Child Protection Policy and the Social Welfare Act 2010.
In response to a disturbing social media video featuring a father hurting his children while attempting to teach them numbers, Mr. Singh condemned such actions, declaring them “shocking and unacceptable.” He asserted that any form of abuse against children is intolerable under the law, emphasizing that each child learns at their own pace and should not be subjected to coercive teaching methods.
Mr. Singh expressed concern over a prevailing culture that condones the use of violence to exert control, lamenting the sad reality that some believe causing harm is an appropriate way to achieve goals. He underscored the significance of nurturing a positive learning environment, stating that children flourish when they feel involved, secure, and supported in their educational pursuits.
